SEAFAN believes that through a multi-disciplinary diagnostic team, there will be an increase in FASD diagnoses at an earlier age.
The Diagnostic Assessment Coordinator/Family Support Worker that leads the collaborative process provides the following services:
• Brings together professional knowledge and expertise to focus on the particular needs of those with neurobehavioral disorders like FASD and coordinates the psychological evaluations as part of the assessments.
• Coordinates all components of assessments - Psychological, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Physician.
The Children's Diagnostic Assessment Coordinator/Consultant coordinates the existing FASD multidisciplinary diagnostic and assessment team and provides consultative services and support to families during and after assessment. The Consultant centers on bringing together professional knowledge and expertise to focus on the particular needs of those with neuro-behavioral disorders like FASD and coordinates all components of the assessments such as the psychological, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy and the physician assessments. Bridges strives to provide support and advocacy services to families who have a child with FASD or for whom it is suspected for children birth to age 17.
